Attendance Code Visibility
A new Attendance Code Visibility page is now available under the Tools menu (cog icon), giving schools more control over which attendance codes are shown to staff and parent/guardians, and the order they appear in.
Simply toggle visibility per code and audience, drag and drop to reorder, and use the search and filter functions (by code, reason, absence type, or visibility) to quickly find what you need. This is a great way to keep the attendance code or reason picker clean, relevant, and tailored to your audience!
Please note that new Configure.AttendanceCodeSets (automatically assigned to the CompassSponsor role group) permission, in addition to the existing Configure permission, is required to access the Attendance Code Visibility page.

Chronicle Digest: Expanded Birthday View
You can now configure your Chronicle Digest to display student birthdays up to 7 days into the past or future. This gives you more visibility of upcoming or recent celebrations, and makes it easy to celebrate birthdays that fall on weekends or other non-school days, so no student misses out.
Configure Mandatory Homepage Widgets
Following the introduction of homepage customisation, we’ve added a new HomepageAdmin permission (automatically assigned to the CompassSponsor role group), giving these users the ability to mark specific widgets as mandatory for staff, parents and students. This ensures that members of your school community never miss any key information, while still enjoying the flexibility of homepage customisation!
To set widgets as mandatory, please follow these steps:
- Click cog icon in the top right-hand corner to open the Tools menu
- Select ‘Edit Home Page Layout’
- Click ‘Widget administration’
- Click the lock icon next the relevant widget for the required user role group to toggle between mandatory and optional
- Once you’re happy with your setup, click ‘Save changes’
New Recipient Filters for Daily Summary Emails
When sending emails via the Daily Summary tab, you can now narrow down the recipients to just the teachers who taught the student on the given day, or – when using the Inconsistent Attendance Filter – pinpoint the teacher connected to a specific inconsistency itself. This is a great way to streamline follow-up and keep communication targeted!
To access these filters, please follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Attendance module and click on a group or cohort to open their profile page – i.e. Year 5
- From the Daily Summary tab, select ‘Inconsistent Attendance’ from the Attendance field dropdown list
- Click ‘Filter’
- Click ‘Send Email’
- See the new options: “To Teachers Who Taught the Student(s) Today” and “To Teacher(s) Tied to the Inconsistency“
Inconsistencies: Column Filtering and Daily Attendance Summary
The Inconsistencies tab now supports column filtering – by Year Level, Name, Form and more – using the same familiar filtering pattern from other attendance tabs, with the inconsistency count updating live as you filter. We’ve also added the daily attendance summary dots you know from other views in Compass, making reviewing inconsistencies quicker and more intuitive.
Add Class Enrolments from the Student Profile
You can now enrol a student directly into a class from the Enrolments tab in the Attendance section of their profile. This quick, convenient way to add class enrolments makes managing student enrolments even easier, without needing to navigate elsewhere in the portal!
To add enrolments from a student’s profile, please follow these steps:
- Head to the Attendance tab on a student’s profile page
- Navigate to the Enrolments sub-tab
- Click ‘+ Enrol’
- Select the required class(es)
- Click ‘Enrol’
Full Visibility of Debtor Notifications
Notifications sent via the Notify Debtors feature in Billing Management are now fully logged and trackable. Emails appear in Email Management and the relevant parent’s Communications tab, while push notifications and SMS messages are logged in Bulk SMS and the parent’s Communications tab too – giving you a clear, reliable record of every notification sent.
