Meet the Team | Karen C.

Compass Team

Welcome Back to Another Meet the Team Post!

This week, we're getting getting acquainted with Karen, our Schools Engagement Manager in NSW! While Karen joined the Compass team only a couple of months ago, she has certainly hit the ground running from Day 1 and put her extensive experience in client-facing roles to fantastic use.

Tell us a little bit about your background and what you do at Compass.

I have been in client-facing roles throughout my career, from banking to magazines to wine, and in the last three years, the education industry.  I am thrilled to be a Schools Engagement Manager in the NSW market.

What’s your favourite product/feature within Compass?

I particularly love the events module - it's a very intuitive tool that manages different kinds of events and streamlines the process dramatically for staff and parents.

What do you see as the biggest benefit that Compass offers, whether it’s to students, school staff or families?

The Compass app - it is an absolute game changer for parents, students and the school.

What does a typical Sunday look like for you?

Nippers, a bike ride or walk, taking my daughter to athletics training… and a cheeky glass of chardy!

What is one of your fondest memories from your school days?

The great friendships that I still have to this day.  And no mobiles meant that we caught up the old fashioned way.

What kind of student were you?

Sporty and enthusiastic.

What was your favourite subject, and why?

Industrial Arts - I have always been fascinated with architecture.

What would you be doing, if not working at Compass?

Flipping houses!

If Compass was available to you when you were at school, do you think it would have changed your learning experience? How?

It would have been a completely different experience - the ability for a deeper level of collaboration with teachers and identifying areas for continuous improvement through our analytics tools, and greater parent engagement would have probably made me more accountable!

Surprise & delight us. Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I wrote a column in a rugby league magazine - ‘Chic Chat’!

What extracurricular activities, if any, were you involved in when you were at school?

I was in the Leadership team in both primary and high school, and also I spent a lot of time representing the school in pretty much any sport available to me.

What is one surprising lesson that you have learnt from your time at Compass?

I just love that every person who works at Compass is deeply committed to providing the best product in the market - they ask ‘why not’ and push the boundaries and it is incredibly inspiring to be immersed in.  I am really looking forward to sharing that passion with lots of lovely NSW schools as we welcome them into the Compass family.
