We have been made aware of industrial action taking place on Tuesday 24th March 2026. Please see details below for using the Industrial Action (901) code as needed.
Scenario 1 – No classes running
If no students are attending, or the school is closed, add a School Activity with the Industrial Action (901) code, add all students, and cancel all regular Class rolls.
Step 1 – Cancel Classes:
Go to the Grid icon
> Daily Organisation
> Class Manager
> Ensure the date filter is set to 24th March
> Highlight all classes using the top tick box
> Cancel Selected.
Note: If you use an external timetabler you will need to cancel classes in that program
Step 2 – Add a School Activity:
Go to the Grid icon
> Attendance
> School Activities tab
> Add School Activity
> Select ‘Industrial Action’ type
> Set the date and time accordingly
> Save
> Select ‘Attendees’
> Add all students as required.
Scenario 2 – Some classes running or some students attending school
If you have some students attending the school, you can mark them using their usual class rolls, or create an Event to group all of these students together. Attendance for these students will then be recoded using the Event roll. For students who will not be attending, please follow the steps outlined above.
To create an Event for those attending school, please follow these steps:
Create an Event:
Go to the Grid icon
> Events
> Create New Event
> Set the Event name and description accordingly
> Administration Details
> Set ‘Attendance code when marked Present’ to Present (100)
> Set ‘Roll Marking Mode’ to Normal
> Session Details
> Set the session to cover the full day (e.g. 9 am – 3.30 pm)
> Once saved, go to the ‘Attendees’ tab and add only the students attending school for the day (you can go back and edit the Event and add/remove students later if needed).
On the day, you’ll need to mark the Event roll accordingly.
Please reach out to our Support Team if you need further assistance recording this in Compass. For queries on specific codes or circumstances, please contact the Department directly.
