Staffing is our most expensive resource, we need to make sure our staff are happy, well-balanced, and ready to work. Running the Census in Compass has been extremely straightforward and the structure is extremely intuitive. Even the first time using the Census area it was so easy to navigate and it is extremely user friendly. The ability to run csv files that can be manipulated to check and verify the data with colleagues is a game changer. Being able to filter data and then make bulk changes via the census to the data in Compass saves a significant amount of time. The data entry of \u201csnapshot\u201d data used for individual census reports is very straight forward.<\/i><\/span><\/p>

I have been using SIMS for Census Returns for the last 15 years and after using Compass once I actually look forward to using the Statutory Returns area of Compass for the Summer and Autumn Term Census returns. The Census on Compass is a real game changer.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

My absolute fav features and modules in Compass are the conference module for parents evening, the school reports module and the news feed. The Conference module has simplified and reduced the workload for parents evening by weeks!! The set up of parents evening is now a simple straight forward task, the management of it is simple to use and the parents have found it so helpful. The parents find the booking system easy to use, it has reduced errors in booking as it does not allow for double booking ensuring smooth and accurate timing for the parents to meet with their child teachers.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The newsfeed feature has been a useful tool to communicate with parents, we use it to send out new LA guidance, update parents on upcoming events, save the dates and sporting celebrations are just a few to name. <\/i><\/span><\/p>

Parents have now been actively reacting with our school posts with the new emoji feature which can be really insightful on how the parents are receiving the news updates and their thoughts on it. <\/i><\/span><\/p>

My absolute fav features and modules in Compass are the conference module for parents evening, the school reports module and the news feed. The Conference module has simplified and reduced the workload for parents evening by weeks!! The set up of parents evening is now a simple straight forward task, the management of it is simple to use and the parents have found it so helpful. The school reports module is by far the most user-friendly way of doing school reports I have worked with from an MIS lead point of view, and I have had the same feedback from the teachers who use it. They love how easy to access it is, how it\u2019s laid<\/i><\/span> out, that you can go from one student to the other all by one click. The comment bank feature is genius, our staff utilise this to <\/i><\/span>the fullest (where applicable of course). We looked at a number of providers before we decided to \u2018put our faith\u2019 into Compass, but for us the decision was quite easy. As a specialist school, we use a MIS in a different way to a mainstream school and after a few years with a very rigid system, we had concerns when we started searching for an improved replacement. However, we could not be happier with the flexibility of such a customisable system which means that it is able to cope with the majority of our niche requirements. The main plus point however has to be the support received from the responsive and friendly team who happily answer every problem, no matter how complex, almost always the very same day. Griddle is different but really good. Its scheduling algorithm is excellent – it delivers good balanced timetable solutions where other packages demand compromises that are unacceptable to the school or fail altogether.<\/i><\/span><\/p>

The software includes a sophisticated package for managing Option Choices using on-line selection of subjects by students, and the generation of Option Blocks takes into account timetable structures that already exist.<\/i><\/span><\/p>

My advice to other schools is simple: look closely at what your current MIS is doing for you. Is it evolving with the demands of school life? If not, talk to Compass.
