Supporting safe, responsible recording of physical observations in your setting.
Body Maps is now available in Compass – a new feature within the Chronicle module designed to help schools record physical observations with clarity and confidence.
Developed in response to direct feedback from alternative provision settings, Body Maps enables staff to visually document areas of concern during incidents, injuries, or physical interventions. The result is a clear, accurate wellbeing record that reflects what’s happened and why.
Why Body Maps?
Many schools, particularly specialist and alternative provision settings, need a simple but detailed way to document physical incidents. Whether supporting students with additional needs, or recording a restraint, schools must be able to record in a way that protects both the child and the staff involved.
Body Maps allows you to do just that visually, securely, and in context.
How it works
With Body Maps, you can select any part of the body and log detailed incident data against it. This includes:
- The location of the injury or concern
- An overview of what occurred
- A severity rating
- Whether any marks were left
You can add multiple incident areas across the front, back, or face.
Each entry sits within the student’s Chronicle record and forms part of a complete wellbeing history. The feature is fully configurable, aligning with your settings’ safeguarding and reporting policies.
Built for real school workflows
Like all features in Compass, Body Maps works as part of a joined-up process, connecting wellbeing recording to attendance, behaviour, and student support planning. It gives school staff the confidence to act responsibly, record thoroughly, and support students with the care they deserve.
