Compass Education acquires Clipboard to enhance extracurricular management for schools

Compass Education today announced the acquisition of Clipboard, Australia’s leading extracurricular management system. The acquisition combines Compass’s school management system with Clipboard’s specialised tools for extracurricular programs, bringing these activities closer to the heart of school operations.

Clipboard was built specifically to address a common challenge in schools, the operational and safeguarding complexity of running sport, clubs, excursions, camps and other co-curricular programs at scale. These programs are critical to student development, yet are often managed through manual processes and disconnected tools that create additional administrative burden and risk. By bringing Clipboard into Compass, the company extends its mission of reducing administration into one of the most operationally demanding parts of school life.

Together, Compass and Clipboard will deliver the market’s most fully-featured native integration that connects Clipboard directly to the Compass ecosystem, creating an all-in-one experience with specialist depth. Schools will gain real-time, two-way sync across student data, attendance, activities, incidents, timetables, communications and reporting, reducing fragmentation and enabling a single view of student activity across the school.

“Clipboard was founded to help students get more out of extracurricular life by equipping schools with the tools they need to take the burden out of managing their programs,” said Ed Colyer, CEO and Co-Founder of Clipboard. “By joining Compass, we’ll accelerate our roadmap and deliver smarter tools and workflows that save staff time and increase student engagement outside the classroom.”

Trusted by more than 500 schools and over one million users across Australia, Clipboard is an established partner to school communities.

“Compass’s mission is to help schools spend more time where it matters,” said John de la Motte, CEO of Compass Education. “By welcoming Clipboard, we are uniting specialist extracurricular workflows with the Compass platform to strengthen engagement and streamline operations across the whole school community. Together, we’re building the most connected ecosystem for schools.”
