Welcome back to Term 3 of 2026 – we hope you had a chance to recharge! As you get back into the swing of things, here are some of our latest product updates to help support you in the weeks ahead.
We’re also excited to introduce an uplift to attendance reports in Compass! We understand that changes to attendance reporting can take some getting used to, and it’s an area where even small adjustments can feel significant. This update comes directly from feedback you’ve shared with us, and is part of our ongoing commitment to improving your day-to-day attendance processes.
We’ll have more updates coming your way throughout the term, so be sure to keep an eye out for these blog posts, and join our Facebook Community if you haven’t already!
Attendance Reports Uplift
We’ve given attendance reports a significant uplift, moving reports such as the ‘Not Present: Unexplained’ export onto our newer, more streamlined attendance reporting engine.
We know attendance documentation needs to be dependable, so with this uplift we’re improving efficiency and reliability whether you’re sending letters home to families, preparing documentation for a parent meeting, or keeping accurate records for compliance purposes.
As part of this work, we’ve also introduced a dedicated PDF export option, developed in response to your feedback, as well as the ability to add a Chronicle entry or meeting, an Attendance Note, or a School Activity directly from unexplained reports pages.

Financial Management Uplift
Later this month, the new Financial Management experience will replace the legacy version as the default for all schools – bringing a more efficient workflow and a cleaner, more intuitive interface. You may already be familiar with it as an optional upgrade, and we’re excited to now be rolling it out across all schools!
If you’d like to get ahead of the change, you can switch to the new experience now from the banner within the Financial Management module. Once the update is enabled school-wide, the new experience will apply automatically for everyone.
Please note that the BudgetAdmin and PurchaseOrderAdmin permissions are required in order to enable the uplift early.

NSW: Attendance Rate Percentage
Built for NSW schools, this new percentage gives teachers a quick, at-a-glance view of a student’s overall attendance. In line with NSW DoE’s official Attendance Rate guidelines, the attendance rate percentage represents the proportion of days a student attended school. Keep in mind that partial days are counted as 0.5, so Whole and Partial totals may differ slightly from what you see in the grid.

VIC: Student Achievement Data Import Update (CASES21)
There’s been an update to the Student Achievement Data import for CASES21 – 2026 data is now Version 11.
If you’re unsure whether your data has imported correctly, please check CASES21 to confirm. If you experienced import errors, we recommend re-downloading the Student Achievement Data and re-importing it into CASES21 using the updated version.

Multiple Rooms Per Event Session
Events with rotating staff and rooms just got easier to manage! Following on from one of our recent updates allowing you to assign multiple staff across different sessions within a single Event, you can now do the same for rooms. This means that Events running throughout the term, with different teachers and spaces each time, no longer need to be duplicated or manually edited session-by-session.
Please reach out to the Compass Support Team if you would like this enabled in your portal!
Embed Videos into News Feed Posts
This new feature allows you to embed videos from YouTube, SharePoint and other platforms directly into News Feed posts! This is a great way to increase engagement and add a little bit extra to important school updates, announcements and highlights.
