Running the Census in Compass has been extremely straightforward and the structure is extremely intuitive. Even the first time using the Census area it was so easy to navigate and it is extremely user friendly. The ability to run csv files that can be manipulated to check and verify the data with colleagues is a game changer. Being able to filter data and then make bulk changes via the census to the data in Compass saves a significant amount of time. The data entry of “snapshot” data used for individual census reports is very straight forward.
I have been using SIMS for Census Returns for the last 15 years and after using Compass once I actually look forward to using the Statutory Returns area of Compass for the Summer and Autumn Term Census returns. The Census on Compass is a real game changer.”

Griddle is different but really good. Its scheduling algorithm is excellent – it delivers good balanced timetable solutions where other packages demand compromises that are unacceptable to the school or fail altogether.
The software includes a sophisticated package for managing Option Choices using on-line selection of subjects by students, and the generation of Option Blocks takes into account timetable structures that already exist.
The software is “young” and new and improved features are being generated all the time. Support is excellent, focussed and personal. Griddle is now my preferred software solution for secondary school timetabling.”
