As we continue our commitment to fostering a safe and secure environment for our customers, we want to take this opportunity to emphasise the importance of cybersecurity. Updates to Victorian Curriculum Mathematics 2.0 & “Progressing Towards” Grading Option
In line with the latest updates to the Victorian Curriculum, we have now implemented the A-D levels for Mathematics 2.0.
The new grading option released by the Department, called “Progress Towards” or “PT” has now been added to the existing Victorian Curriculum Achievement Standards and EAL Pathways Report Elements and Learning Task Grading Components.
For more information on these changes, please click on the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 blog post.
NSW Semester Report Changes
The NSW Department of Education has recently introduced updated guidelines for student reporting—and Compass is ready to support schools in meeting them.
Schools can now customise their Semester Reports within Compass to align with the latest DoE templates. We’ve introduced dedicated elements—“Achievement Description – NSW,” “Effort,” and “Overall Achievement”—which can be easily added via the Semester Report setup.
To ensure clarity and consistency, schools also have the flexibility to rename these fields (e.g., changing “Achievement Description – NSW” to “Learning Outcomes”) to suit their community’s preferences.
Click below for a comprehensive, step-by-step guide that walks you through the configuration process, making it easy to stay compliant and deliver clear, meaningful reports.
Upload an image to the Semester Reports front cover and introduction pages
You can now upload a background image to your Semester Report front Cover and introduction pages.
This is useful if your school uses an advanced front cover page and introduction page that includes images, colour blocks or borders and you need more flexibility and customisaton of your report pages.

New self-paced Compass Academy courses
We’re excited to announce the release of two new self-paced courses on Compass Academy: General Introduction to Compass and Teacher Fundamentals – Assessment & Reporting
These courses are part of our ongoing commitment to support staff with developing their confidence and capability in using Compass effectively. Whether you’re new to Compass, need a refresher, or want to deepen your knowledge of specific modules, Compass Academy has you covered.
General Introduction to Compass
Perfect for new users or anyone looking to refresh their skills. This course covers navigating your Compass portal, marking a roll, creating a Chronicle entry, and locating key modules.
Teacher Fundamentals – Assessment & Reporting
This course is designed specifically for teaching staff and focuses on all aspects of semester reporting, including: Creating and managing comment banks, entering assessment results, proofreading and finalising reports.
Custom Period Editor
You can now edit the period structure for individual teaching days. This is useful on days when the regular timetable needs to be adjusted due to longer assemblies or shortened timetables for public holidays or the last day of term.
Once the period structure for an individual day has been configured, schools using external timetabling packages must re-import their timetable. Schools using Compass Schedule Builder should save and generate their template to the apply changes.
Automatically send email notifications to staff with unmarked rolls
You can now configure automatic email notifications to be sent to staff with unmarked rolls at a scheduled time. When a time has been specified for the email to send, staff who have unmarked rolls for the current day will be notified. Email notifications will only be sent on teaching days.
You can turn this feature on in your portal by going to the Attendance Settings and configure the setting ‘Send time of automated email for unmarked rolls’.
